ELNORA — In an effort to curb student attrition and support families exploring alternative education models, North Daviess Community Schools has announced the launch of a new Virtual Online Curriculum for the upcoming academic term.

The program is specifically tailored for students in grades 7 through 12 who may be struggling in a traditional classroom environment, facing chronic academic hurdles, or actively considering transitioning to homeschool.
According to Dr. Barry Stone, Director of Curriculum and Technology for North Daviess Community Schools, the corporation’s priority is keeping students plugged into the local district while eliminating barriers to graduation. The goal is not to lose any students and make sure they get a diploma, Dr. Stone noted, emphasizing that flexibility should not mean sacrificing a high-quality local public education.
While the virtual platform is new, North Daviess is no stranger to integrating specialized digital solutions. The school corporation has utilized programs like Edmentum’s Study Island to provide targeted standards practice and assist classroom teachers with real-time student achievement data. This latest expansion into a comprehensive virtual curriculum builds on that technology infrastructure, ensuring remote students remain fully aligned with Indiana’s academic standards.
Both North Daviess Elementary and the North Daviess Jr./Sr. High School operates with distinct state-level honors, having earned the Indiana Purple Star School designation from the Department of Education for its commitment to military-connected families and student support systems.
Corporation officials encourage interested parents and guardians to act quickly, as the open enrollment window for the online option is short.
- Eligibility: Students in Grades 7–12
- Enrollment Deadline: Ongoing now through Friday, July 10
- How to Apply: Parents must contact North Daviess Guidance Counselor Beth Smith to discuss credit requirements, technology needs, and enrollment logistics.
Families seeking further information or a comprehensive breakdown of the curriculum can contact the school corporation’s main guidance office directly at the Elnora campus.
