SOLSBERRY — A Bloomington man is behind bars facing a slew of felony and misdemeanor charges following a tense barricade situation in Greene County.
The Greene County Sheriff’s Office reported that deputies responded to a residence in the area of North Ivan Court in Solsberry after receiving a tip regarding a wanted subject who was reportedly in possession of a firearm.

Upon arrival, deputies located the suspect, identified as Steven Taylor Jr. Instead of complying with law enforcement, Taylor retreated into the home and barricaded himself inside a back room, initiating a brief standoff.
After attempts to negotiate Taylor’s peaceful surrender failed, deputies deployed pepper balls, a less-lethal chemical irritant projectile, into the room. The tactic proved successful, forcing Taylor out of the room to surrender to waiting lawmakers without further incident.
A subsequent search of the immediate area yielded dangerous contraband. Deputies recovered two handguns alongside what was later identified as a controlled substance and drug consumption equipment.
Following his arrest, Taylor was transported to the Greene County Jail, where he is currently being held on multiple preliminary charges, including possession of meth while in possession of a firearm, unlawful carrying of a firearm, illegal possession of a syringe, possession of drug paraphernalia, and failure to aid.
The investigation remains ongoing by the Greene County Sheriff’s Office, and formal charges are expected to be finalized by the Greene County Prosecutor’s Office. All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
Those facing criminal charges are considered innocent until proven guilty through a fair and due legal process. Accusations alone do not imply guilt; the judicial system will evaluate the presented evidence to reach a verdict.
