North Lawrence School Board schedules executive session for board training and personnel matters

BEDFORD The North Lawrence Community Schools (NLCS) Board of School Trustees will convene for an executive session this Thursday evening to conduct board training and address several private administrative and personnel matters.

The meeting is scheduled for Thursday, June 18, 2026, at the NLCS Administration Building, located at 460 W Street in Bedford. The executive session will begin at approximately 7:00 p.m., immediately following the conclusion of the board’s regular public session, which is slated to start at 6:00 p.m.

In accordance with the Indiana Open Door Law, executive sessions are closed to the general public to allow governing bodies to discuss specific sensitive topics. According to the official meeting notice, the board will meet strictly to address the following agenda items:

  • Board Governance Training: Meeting with an outside consultant to train school board members regarding the execution of their roles as public officials, pursuant to Indiana Code § 5-14-1.5-6.1(b)(11).
  • Personnel Interviews: Interviewing and receiving information about prospective school corporation employees, pursuant to Indiana Code § 5-14-1.5-6.1(b)(5).
  • Job Performance Reviews: Discussing the job performance evaluations of individual employees, pursuant to Indiana Code § 5-14-1.5-6.1(b)(9).
  • Legal Consultations: Engaging in communications with legal counsel that are protected under attorney-client privilege, pursuant to Indiana Code § 5-14-1.5-6.1(b)(19).

The seven-member governing body currently consists of Adam Parsley, Scott King, Kirsten Collier, and Barbara Miller, whose elective terms all run through December 31, 2026, alongside Wendy Miller, Jeremy Gilbert, and Justin Sokeland, whose terms run through December 31, 2028.
