INDIANA — The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has classified a voluntary recall of 913 cases of Alfredo sauce by The Coffee Connexion Co. of Tennessee as a Class I recall. This represents the agency’s most serious recall designation, indicating a reasonable probability that consuming the product could cause severe adverse health consequences or death.
The action was taken after the FDA determined that Alfredo sauce contains dry milk powder sourced from California Dairies, Inc., which had previously been recalled due to potential Salmonella contamination. While this marks the ninth product pulled from shelves in connection to the ongoing California Dairies supply chain contamination, it is the first to be elevated to a Class I risk level; previous related recalls received a less severe Class II designation.
To date, no illnesses have been reported in connection with the Alfredo sauce.
Nationwide Distribution: 41 States Affected

- West & Pacific: Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Montana, New Mexico, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, Washington, Wyoming
- Midwest: Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Ohio, South Dakota, Wisconsin
- South: Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia

Specific product and lot code information can be verified through the FDA’s official enforcement report at fda.gov.
A Growing Supply Chain Ripple Effect
The dry milk powder under scrutiny has triggered a massive domino effect across the grocery industry. The Coffee Connexion Co.’s Alfredo sauce is the latest addition to a growing list of popular brands caught in the California Dairies recall chain.
Other products previously recalled due to the same contaminated ingredient source include:
- Ghirardelli beverage mixes
- Utz Zapp’s and Dirty potato chips
- Aldi and Walmart frozen pizzas
- Motor City Pizza Co. cheese bread
- Kroger croutons
- Blackstone Parmesan Ranch seasoning
- SKS Copack café powders
Consuming contaminated food can cause salmonellosis, which can lead to symptoms such as fever, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, and abdominal cramps. While most healthy individuals recover within a few days, the infection can be severe and potentially fatal in high-risk populations, including young children, the elderly, and immunocompromised individuals.
