ORLEANS — Law enforcement officials are asking for the public’s immediate assistance in locating a missing Orange County man who is believed to be in danger and may require urgent medical intervention.

The Orleans Police Department received an official missing persons report for Thomas Hackney on Friday, May 29, 2026.
Family members and authorities are increasingly concerned for Hackney’s safety and well-being, noting that he is considered missing and endangered and may be experiencing a medical crisis.
Hackney was last seen wearing green shorts and a gray t-shirt featuring the printed text, “World’s Greatest Grandpa”.
Orleans Police have not yet released a direction of travel, potential destinations, or a vehicle description, but they are urging residents across Orange and neighboring Lawrence counties to keep a close eye out for anyone matching his description.
Anyone with any information regarding the whereabouts of Thomas Hackney, or anyone who may have seen him since Friday, is urged to immediately contact the Orleans Police Department via Orange County Sheriff’s Dispatch at 812-723-2417, or dial 911.
