Mitchell Common Council to consider property annexations in special meeting Jun. 2

MITCHELL The Mitchell Common Council will convene for a special meeting next week to consider the annexation of two properties into the city limits.

The meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, June 2, 2026, at 5 p.m. in the Council Chambers at Mitchell City Hall, located at 407 S. 6th St.

According to a meeting notice issued Thursday by Mitchell Mayor Don Caudell, the sole agenda item is the consideration of an ordinance to annex two specific parcels of land.

The properties under consideration for annexation include:

  • Real property located at 8835 State Road 60 West, also identified as Parcel No. 47-11-35-300-037.000-004.
  • Real property located at 2465 Old Hwy 60 West, also identified as Parcel No. 47-11-35-300-041.000-004.

The five-member Common Council heading the evaluation includes elected council members Larry Caudell, Chris Carlisle, Daniel Talbott, and George James, all of whom began their current terms on Jan. 1, 2024. They are joined by Zach Terrell, who was appointed to the council on Oct. 10, 2024, to fill the remaining term of Dan Terrell. All five council terms are set to run through Dec. 31, 2027.

The special meeting is open to the public.
