Indiana State Police investigating fatal crash in Madison County

ELWOOD – The Indiana State Police is investigating a fatal crash that occurred on May 25, 2026, at approximately 10:00 p.m. at the intersection of State Road 37 and State Road 128, south of Elwood in Madison County.

Preliminary investigation by the Indiana State Police Crash Reconstruction Team determined that a 2015 white GMC Sierra, driven by Skylar D. Pete, 20, of Elwood, was traveling northbound on State Road 37.  The vehicle was struck by an eastbound blue 2006 Suzuki C50 motorcycle that, for an unknown reason, failed to stop at the stop sign on State Road 128 and collided with the side of the pickup truck.

The motorcycle was operated by Noah Alberts, 28, of Anderson. Alberts was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash and was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Madison County Coroner’s Office. Notification to the family had been made.

Elwood Police Department, Frankton Police Department, Madison County Sheriff’s Department, Madison County Emergency Management Agency. Elwood Fire Department, Pine Creek Fire Department, Lafayette Township Fire Department, Frankton Ambulance, White River Ambulance, and the Madison County Coroner’s Office assisted the Indiana State Police at the scene.

This crash remains under investigation.
