Darlene W. “Dee” Riley, 90, of Seymour, IN, passed away on Saturday, May 16, 2026, at the IU Health University Hospital in Indianapolis, IN.
Born August 9, 1935, in Bedford, IN, she was the daughter of Stanley and Delphia (Miller) Whitted.
Darlene grew up and attended school in Bedford, IN. She later moved to Seymour and married John Albert Dunn. After his passing, she married James W. “Jim” Riley in Seymour, IN.
For many years, Darlene worked in housekeeping for Schneck Medical Center and Community Care Nursing Home, both in Seymour, IN. She also worked cleaning houses for several prominent residences and businesses in the Seymour area.
She was a former member of The Tabernacle Apostolic Church in Seymour. Darlene enjoyed gardening, bowling, going to church, reading, and writing poetry. Her love of Victorian Living and English History led her to a love for decorating. She will be greatly missed by all her family and friends.
Darlene is survived by her son, John Stanley (Kimberly) Dunn of Greenwood, IN; her granddaughters, Amanda Dunn of Indianapolis, IN, and Megan Dunn of Fort Wayne, IN; two brothers, David Whitted of Avoca, IN, and Pete Whitted of Boca Raton, FL; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, Stanley and Delphi Whitted; her first husband, John Albert Dunn; her second husband, Jim Riley; and a nephew, Donnie Whitted.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 21, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Burkholder Chapel of Thorne Family Funeral Homes in Seymour, with Rev. Dennis Croucher officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 21, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., also at Burkholder Chapel of Thorne Family Funeral Homes in Seymour.
