BEDFORD – The North Lawrence Community Schools (NLCS) Board of School Trustees has scheduled an executive session for Thursday, May 21, 2026, to focus on board development and legal matters.
The meeting is set to begin at approximately 7:00 p.m., or immediately following the conclusion of the board’s regular session, which starts at 6:00 p.m. Both meetings will be held at the NLCS Administration Building, located at 460 W Street in Bedford.
According to the official meeting notice, the board will meet in private for the following purposes:
- Official Training: Members will work with an outside consultant to receive training regarding their roles and performances as public officials, as permitted under Indiana Code § 5-14-1.5-6.1(b)(11).
- Legal Consultation: The board will engage in privileged communications with an attorney, as authorized by Indiana Code § 5-14-1.5-6.1(b)(19).
Executive sessions are closed to the public to allow governing bodies to discuss specific sensitive topics—such as legal strategy or internal training—defined by state law. No final action or voting may take place during an executive session; any official board decisions must be made during a public meeting.
