Obituary: Donald “Duck” L. Lee

November 7, 1938 – May 9, 2026

Donald L. “Duck” Lee, 87, of Bedford, passed away on Saturday, May 9, 2026, at Redcrest Hospice House.

Born November 7, 1938, in Bedford, he was the son of Wayne G. and Ruth M. (Hutchinson) Lee. He married Mary McGuire in November 1964, and she survives.

Donald was a 1957 graduate of Tunnelton High School. He was a U.S. Army veteran. Donald retired from Visteon. He was a lifelong farmer, drove a school bus for fifty years, and enjoyed driving a delivery truck for PRD. Donald was a member of the Orleans Church of Christ and loved to teach bible classes. He was an avid Cincinnati Reds and IU basketball fan. His grandchildren were his pride and joy, and he loved spending time with them and all his family.

Survivors include his wife, Mary of Bedford; two daughters, Stephanie (Mark) Mason, Patty (Vince) Coleman; four grandchildren, Olivia (Ryan) Kuhlenschmidt, Kristina (Nathaniel) Digby, Nikolas Coleman, Alex (Sydney) Lee; a great-grandchild, Amelia Kuhlenschmidt; two brothers; Logan (Jean) Lee, Raymond Lee; and several loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Brian Lee; one grandson, Ethan Shirley; and brothers, Charles D. Lee, Gene Lee, Wayne Lee Jr., and Ronald Dean Lee in infancy.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 13th, in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Minister Mike Davis officiating. Burial will follow in Proctor Cemetery with military graveside rites accorded by the American Legion Gillen Post #33. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 12th, at Day & Carter Mortuary.
