Obituary: Daniel (Danny) Wayne Owens

July 8, 1941 – May 4, 2026

Daniel Wayne Owens (Danny) passed away on Monday, May 4, 2026. He left us a legacy of a work ethic that illuminated family values. Born on July 8, 1941, in Charlestown, Indiana. Danny was the son of Vincent Owens and Opal Dove Rowe. A 1959 graduate of Mitchell High School, he went on to work at Tri-Angle Construction and B & LS Contracting. He later became the owner of Hoosier Lawn Service.

Danny was a devoted husband to his wife, Terri, whom he married on November 29, 1986, in Bedford, IN. Together, they shared a life filled with love, family, and travel. A man of strong community ties, Danny was a lifetime member of the Benevolent Protective Order of Elks, the Bedford Boat and Sportsman Club, and the Sons of the American Legion. One of Danny’s favorite community activities was participating in the Claude Akins Memorial Golf Classic. From being a Patron Sponsor, golfing with family teams, cooking, and supervising his crew of cooks, Danny spent most Labor Day weekends enjoying one of Bedford’s best community events.

Danny is survived by his son Tim, daughter-in-law Joni, and grandchildren Gabby & Jack of Georgia; sister Nancy Davis of Medora, nieces Racquel Hanks and Rochelle Berwick of Bedford; brother Jerry Rowe of Bloomfield, and sisters Nina Shrewsbury of Texas and Brenda Kirk of Florida. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Virginia Sue Owens.

Visitation will be held on Friday, May 15, 2026, at the Limestone Chapel of George Funeral Care, 527 15 th Street, Bedford, IN 47421, from 3:30 pm-8 pm. A private burial will follow at a later date.
