ST JOSEPH COUNTY – A drug investigation that the Indiana State Police began in February 2025 resulted in the execution of search warrants being served at two residences in South Bend, IN, and one in Mishawaka, IN, on the morning of May 7, 2026. These warrants resulted in the seizure of nearly 2 pounds of fentanyl as well as additional drugs and firearms. This amount of fentanyl is estimated to be equivalent to over 200,000 lethal doses.

Search warrants were served yesterday morning simultaneously on three residences by the Indiana State Police SWAT, St. Joseph County Metro SWAT, and South Bend Police Department SWAT.
The search warrant served at a residence in the 1500 block of Liberty Drive in Mishawaka, IN, resulted in the discovery of approximately 450 grams of suspected fentanyl and three firearms, one of which was found to be stolen. There was a 7-year-old juvenile at the residence when the search warrant was executed.Â
The search warrant served at a residence in the 1300 block of Sorin Street in South Bend, IN, resulted in the discovery of approximately 23 grams of suspected heroin, 11 grams of suspected Ecstasy pills, 1 firearm, and approximately $3,700 in United States Currency. There were 4 juveniles at the residence when the search warrant was executed.
The search warrant served at a residence in the 1900 block of East Calvert Street in South Bend, IN, resulted in the discovery of approximately 433 grams of suspected fentanyl, 3 grams of cocaine, 242 grams of suspected methamphetamine, and 1 firearm.
As a result of this investigation, two men were arrested and taken to the St. Joseph County Jail. Chris Harges, 32 of Mishawaka, IN, was arrested for Dealing a Narcotic Drug, Level 2 Felony, Possession of a Narcotic Drug, Level 3 Felony, Possession of a Firearm by a Serious Violent Felon, Maintaining a Common Nuisance, Invasion of Privacy, and Neglect of a Dependent. Trayvon Mason, 31 of South Bend, IN, was arrested for Dealing a Narcotic Drug, Level 2 Felony, Possession of a Narcotic Drug, Level 3 Felony, Maintaining a Common Nuisance, Neglect of a Dependent, and Possession of a Firearm by a Serious Violent Felon.
The Indiana State Police was assisted during this lengthy investigation and during the execution of these three simultaneous search warrants by the Mishawaka Police Department, South Bend Police Department, South Bend Police Department Strategic Focus Unit, St. Joseph County Police Department, Pokagon Band of Potawatomie Police Department, Marshall County Drug Task Force, DEA, FBI, and ATF.
