BNL sweeps to wins over Mitchell in county meet

MITCHELL – Bedford North Lawrence swept past Mitchell during high school track action on Monday.

The Stars recorded a 79-34 victory in the boys meet. In the girls meet, the Stars prevailed by a 68-54 count.

In the boys meet, Tripp Stahl and Luke Morris were double winners for the Stars. Stahl won the shot put (50-4) and discus (145-10), while Morris took the 110 high hurdles (16.10) and 200 (24.19).

BNL also swept the relays. Sam Strauser, Eli McFarland, Tate McFarland and Blake Beeson won the 3200 (9:18.76). Beau Allender, Driven Axsom, Parker Beeson and Morris combined to win the 400 (46.15), while Saeben Arce, Ben Conner, Axsom and Morris claimed the 1600 (3:44.31).

Gavin Robinson was a double winner for the Bluejackets in the 100 (11.97) and long jump (19-8 3/4).

In the girls meet, BNL’s Paige Voigtschild was a double threat in the 400 (1:01.93) and 800 (2:35.53). Other individual winners for the Stars included Lily Mishler (100 in 14.34), Madison Chandler (6:02.79 in the 1600), Claire Voigtschild (14:11.07 in the 3200) and Alaina Fish (29.59 in the 200).

Mitchell’s Marissa Blais won three events, taking the 100 hurdles (16.81), 300 hurdles (49.67) and high jump (4-10). Kaylynn Kohlhaas was a double winner in the shot put (33-2) and discus (99-7).

BNL will compete at Brownstown on Tuesday.
