Stars post four individual wins during Scott County Invitational

BNL’s Emma Voris combined with Claire Edwards for a match win at No.2 doubles.

SCOTTSBURG – Bedford North Lawrence won four matches in the Scott County Invitational during girls high school tennis action on Friday and Saturday.

BNL’s Emma Conover (No.2 singles) finished fifth overall (out of eight teams in the event) with a 6-3, 6-4 first-round win over Scottsburg’s Sophie Gricius, while the No.2 doubles tandem of Claire Edwards and Emma Voris also finished fifth in their bracket with a first-night victory (4-6, 6-3, 6-0) over Paoli’s Alba Miranda and Audrey Crowder.

The Stars also recorded wins by Elizabeth Miskuf (8-4 over Paoli’s Natalie Coble) at No.1 singles, and the No.1 doubles duo of Jada Key and Forum Patel (8-6 over Paoli’s Morgan Flannery and Aurora Hays).

“The girls played really well against some tough opponents,” BNL coach Jennifer Edwards said. “Our singles players had some really long rallies, and the score doesn’t really show that. I am proud of these girls and how much they have improved since the beginning of the season.”

BNL will host Columbus East on Monday.
