
Betty Wagoner, 92, of Bedford, passed away on Thursday, April 30, 2026, at Westview Nursing Home.
Born August 28, 1933, she was the daughter of Everett and Dorothy (Rosenbaum) Gregory. She married the love of her life, Gene, on September 21, 1951. He preceded her in death on March 5, 2023. Betty was a renowned cake baker and decorator for over 50 years in the Bedford area. She even shared her skills by teaching cake decorating classes at JCPenney. Betty had a remarkable memory and could often recall the weddings for which she had created cakes when she later encountered those couples. Many of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren cherished time spent in her home, especially when they were lucky enough to enjoy leftover icing after she completed a cake. Her family was lovingly spoiled each year with her beautifully decorated birthday cakes and her unforgettable homemade icing. Mamaw Betty did not miss a ball game for any of her grandkids. She was also an avid IU basketball fan. She hosted the Red Rose Club and Euchre Club for many years. Betty became a member of the First Christian Church of Bedford when she was baptized on 2-17-1957 by Rev. Blackwood. She would often help cook at the day camps and for numerous events that the church hosted.
Survivors include her children, Larry (Vicki) Wagoner and Tim (Melanie) Wagoner; grandchildren, Heather (Steve) Terry, Aaron (Amy Beth), Tyler (Ruby) Wagoner, Lindsay (Gavin) Steele, Shauna (Justin) Hawkins, Brooke (Chad) Teague, Brittany (Shile) Anderson, Blair (Anthony) Taylor; great-grandchildren, McKenzie (Bobby) Napoleon, Sydni and Presley Terry, Lily, George and Gwen Wagoner, Delaney, Linkyn, and Trueman Steele; Trace (Katie) and Lane (Kayla) Hawkins, Thomas Wagoner, Hadley, Campbell and Crete Teague, Zane (Zoii) and Nadia Anderson, Remington, Hensley and Maclain Taylor; great-great-grandsons, Willis and Frank Hawkins, Grady Napoleon, Koe Gregory Anderson due in June; sisters Kim (Kerry) Parkes and Sue May, a brother Bill (Peg) Gregory. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, daughters; Cathy Hamilton and Polly Holtsclaw, siblings, James, Bob, and Dave Gregory.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Monday, May 4 th, in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary. Burial will follow in Cresthaven Memory Gardens. Visitation will be held from 10:00 am until the hour of service on Monday at Day & Carter. Memorial contributions can be made to First Christian Church.
