Brownstown clips BNL by 3-2 count

BNL’s Emma Voris teamed with Claire Edwards for a win at No.2 doubles, but Brownstown escaped with a 3-2 victory over the Stars on Saturday.

BEDFORD – Brownstown conquered Bedford North Lawrence 3-2 during girls high school tennis action on Saturday.

The Stars posted wins at No.2 doubles and No.1 singles.

Elizabeth Miskuf, playing at the top of the lineup, rolled to a 6-2, 6-4 triumph over Destanie Collins at No.1 singles.

“I am continuing to be so impressed with Elizabeth,” BNL coach Jennifer Edwards said. “We put her at singles again, and she played her game and played it very well. She had some absolutely beautiful shots. She is just a great player to have on your team because she has a great work ethic, takes coaching well, and is always trying to improve. She gave it her all against an experienced senior and got it done.”

In doubles, Emma Voris and Claire Edwards combined for a 6-1, 6-1 win over Meredith Lewis and Zoie Gray at No.2.

“We brought back last year’s duo of Emma and Claire, and they absolutely killed it,” Edwards said. “They both had high energy, communicated, and showed so much improvement in their game. They were leaders out there in the court.”

The Braves took the bottom singles as Nylah Patton stopped Forum Patel 6-1, 6-2 at No.2, while Emily White topped Mackenzie Held 6-1, 6-3 at No.3. In doubles, Brownstown’s Genna Preston and Eulah Beavers defeated Emma Conover and Jada Key 6-0, 6-1 at No.1.
