INDIANAPOLIS — The Indiana State Police is proud to announce that Master Trooper Jackie Smith has been selected as the 2025 Trooper of the District for the Sellersburg Post.

Master Trooper Jackie Smith

This recognition was formally presented during the Indiana State Police Annual Awards and Recognition Ceremony held in Indianapolis on Tuesday, April 21, 2026. The ceremony honors exceptional dedication, service, and bravery—achievements that too often occur without public spotlight.

Master Trooper Smith is a 35‑year veteran of the Indiana State Police, and remarkably, he has spent all 35 of those years in uniform working the road. Over the course of his career, he has served as a member of the methamphetamine suppression team and has played a critical role as a Field Training Officer, guiding countless new troopers at the Sellersburg Post.

Despite his extensive tenure, M/Trooper Smith shows no signs of slowing down and continues to set the pace for the district. In 2025, he led the Sellersburg District in both traffic stops and overall traffic contacts, completing 1,618 traffic stops with 1,830 written traffic contacts. His enforcement efforts also resulted in 59 arrests and 71 criminal charges, including one DUI arrest while working the day shift.

Master Trooper Smith’s commitment to public safety, his consistent work ethic, and his leadership within the district exemplify the highest standards of the Indiana State Police. His decades of service and unwavering dedication make him a deserving recipient of the Trooper of the District Award.
