FORT WAYNE – The Indiana State Police held their annual awards and recognition ceremony in Indianapolis on Tuesday, April 21, 2026. The ceremony publicly recognized the achievements and accomplishments that too often go unrecognized. Troopers were honored for their dedication, service, bravery, and devotion to the department and the citizens of Indiana.

During the ceremony, Trooper Benjamin Walker was given the top DUI Award for the Fort Wayne District. This award recognizes the Trooper at each district who has exhibited exceptional efforts in the detection, apprehension, and enforcement of impaired driving laws. Trooper Walker arrested 62 intoxicated drivers in 2025. Throughout his career, he has demonstrated a strong commitment to removing impaired drivers from Indiana Roadways. Trooper Walker has been with the Indiana State Police since 2018. He currently patrols Steuben County.
