BEDFORD — An 18-year-old Bedford man was taken into custody Tuesday after police responded to a domestic dispute and discovered he was significantly intoxicated.
Vincent M. Evans was booked into the Lawrence County Security Center on a preliminary charge of minor consuming an alcoholic beverage.

According to a probable cause affidavit filed by Officer Bailey Duprey of the Bedford Police Department, dispatch received a call on April 21, 2026, regarding a verbal argument at the 24th Street residence.
Upon arrival, officers made contact with Evans. Officer Duprey noted several signs of intoxication, including the odor of alcohol, slurred speech, and glossy eyes.
During the investigation, Evans admitted to consuming alcohol. A portable breath test (PBT) revealed his blood alcohol content (BAC) to be 0.27%—more than three times the legal limit for an adult of legal drinking age.
The male complainant informed officers that the dispute began because he wanted Evans’ friends to leave the property.
Due to the high level of intoxication, Evans was first transported to IU Health Bedford for medical clearance. Once cleared by medical staff, he was transported to the Lawrence County Security Center.
In Indiana, it is illegal for any person under the age of 21 to consume, possess, or transport an alcoholic beverage. Under the state’s Lifeline Law, immunity from certain alcohol-related offenses can sometimes apply if a minor is seeking medical help for themselves or others; however, in this instance, police were responding to a report of a verbal altercation.
Evans was remanded to the custody of the Lawrence County Sheriff on April 21.
All individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. This article is based on the information provided in the probable cause affidavit and does not represent a final determination of guilt or innocence.
