KNOX COUNTY – Earlier today, April 21, Indiana State Police Superintendent Anthony Scott presented Trooper Tanner Hurley with the following prestigious awards:

Life Award – Trooper Hurley apprehended 72 impaired drivers in 2025, which was 5th overall for the entire Indiana State Police.
Evansville District’s Top OWI Trooper -Trooper Hurley was Evansville District’s Top OWI trooper. With 72 impaired drivers apprehended during 2025, Trooper Hurley led all troopers in the Evansville District.
Evansville District Trooper of the District – Evansville District Commander Lieutenant Bill Gadberry also selected Trooper Hurley for this award due to his outstanding enforcement actions during 2025.
Trooper Hurley was recognized today in Indianapolis by Superintendent Scott for these awards, along with other Troopers who were selected by their respective districts. “This honor is bestowed upon a deserving Trooper that exemplifies the Department’s high standards and expectations as related to the overall mission,” emphasized Lieutenant Bill Gadberry, Evansville District Commander, “and a Trooper’s professionalism, integrity, well-rounded work ethic, service to the community, and assigned responsibilities are just a few areas taken into consideration when nominated. Trooper Hurley works hard every night and is making a very positive impact with his OVWI enforcement efforts, especially regarding those who are driving around our communities under the influence of drugs.”
Hurley is a Churubusco, Indiana native, and eight-year veteran of the Indiana State Police. Hurley graduated from the 78th Indiana State Police Recruit Academy in December of 2018. After graduating from the Recruit Academy, Trooper Hurley was assigned to the Evansville Post where he has primarily patrolled Gibson and Knox Counties. Trooper Hurley is a member of the Honor guard, a DRE Instructor (Drug Recognition Expert), SFST Instructor (Standardized Field Sobriety Test), FTO (Field Training Officer), Background Investigator and Internet Crimes Against Children Investigator.
