Russell D. Tidd Sr., 88, of Bedford, passed away on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, at Westview Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.
Russell was born in Bedford on June 12, 1937, to Charles Ellis Tidd and Nellie Marie (Blythe) Tidd. Russell married Alma B. Seibert on February 15, 1959. She preceded him in death on February 25, 2023.
Russell spent his life as a minister and evangelist. He was the former minister at Chapel Hill Church. He attended Harvest Community Church in Orleans.
Survivors include one daughter, Barbara “Barbie” Porter and husband Ralph Porter of Beaver Dam, Kentucky, one daughter-in-law, Millie Tidd, six grandchildren, Candace Trowbridge, Tana Hutcherson, Benjamin Tidd, Amanda Finney, Crystal Jenkins, and Melissa Pavey, 15 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
Russell was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Alma B. Tidd, one son, Russell D. Tidd, Jr., brothers, Harry Lee Tidd and Charles Tidd, and sisters, Mary Stapleton and Loberta Byrd
Funeral services will be on Monday, April 20, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Cresthaven Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Cresthaven Memory Gardens. Visitation will be on Monday, April 20th, from Noon until service time at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
