Homicide investigation underway after body discovered in western Vigo County

TERRE HAUTE The Vigo County Sheriff’s Office has launched a homicide investigation following the discovery of a man’s body in a body of water in the western portion of the county this past weekend.

The Vigo County Coroner’s Office has identified the victim as 38-year-old Victor Lee. His body was located on Sunday, April 12.

Following an autopsy conducted early this week, officials officially ruled the death a homicide, though the specific cause of death has not yet been made public to protect the integrity of the ongoing investigation.

Detectives have been working around the clock since the discovery, processing the scene where Lee was found and canvassing the surrounding area for potential witnesses or surveillance footage.

Sheriff’s deputies confirmed they are currently following up on several leads but are urging the public to come forward with any information, no matter how insignificant it may seem.

Anyone with information regarding the movements of Victor Lee prior to April 12, or anyone who may have seen suspicious activity in western Vigo County over the weekend, is asked to contact Detective Mary Parmer at 812-462-3226.

This investigation remains active. Updates will be provided as more information is released by the Coroner’s Office or the Sheriff’s Department.
