Nationwide Recall: 740,000 Granitestone Sauté Pans cited for “projectile” hazard

INDIANA Federal safety officials have issued a high-priority recall for approximately 740,000 sauté pans after reports surfaced of a manufacturing defect that can cause metal components to “eject with force” during cooking.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced the recall on April 2, 2026, involving the Granitestone Diamond Pro Blue stainless steel sauté pans. The manufacturer, New York-based E Mishan & Sons Inc., has received nearly 100 reports of the pans malfunctioning, including one instance where a consumer suffered both bruising and burns.

The Hazard: Impact and Burn Risks

According to the CPSC, the danger lies in a small metal cap located on the screw that connects the pan’s handle to its body. When the pan is heated, thermal expansion can cause this cap to loosen and suddenly detach.

Because the detachment often occurs under pressure, the cap can become a projectile, posing a significant impact hazard to anyone nearby. Additionally, because the metal is likely at cooking temperature when it detaches, it presents a severe burn risk.

Product Identification

The recall specifically targets the two-piece set of Granitestone Diamond Pro Blue pans. These pans are easily identified by their blue non-stick interior and stainless steel exterior and handles.

Instructions for Consumers

Safety officials are urging households to immediately stop using the pans. Even if your pans have not shown signs of loosening, the CPSC warns that the defect can manifest without warning during any heating cycle.

To receive a full refund, consumers must participate in the return process:

  1. Stop Use: Remove the pans from your kitchen rotation immediately.
  2. Contact the Manufacturer: Call E Mishan & Sons toll-free at 888-230-6698 (available 24/7) or visit their dedicated recall page at www.granitestone.com/recalls.
  3. Return the Product: Unlike some recalls that only require a photo of the destroyed product, this recall requires customers to return the physical pans to receive their reimbursement.

Under federal law, it is illegal to sell or even donate recalled products. If you own these pans, you are encouraged to follow the official refund channel rather than discarding them, to ensure the units are properly removed from circulation.
