Mitchell Chamber Golf Tournament returns to Stonecrest May 8 to raise funds for the Persimmon Festival

MITCHELL — The Mitchell Chamber of Commerce is set to host its annual golf scramble fundraiser on Friday, May 8, at Stone Crest Golf Community, continuing efforts to support one of the community’s signature events.

The tournament will begin at 9 a.m. and serves as a fundraiser for the Mitchell Persimmon Festival, helping cover costs associated with staging, entertainment, and the parade.

The scramble, which had been held in years past, was revived in 2025 after a hiatus. This year marks the second tournament since its return.

“The golf scramble allows for networking and a fun day in the sun,” said Toya Lamb, president of the Mitchell Chamber. “The funds provide sustainability for the festival to continue another year.”

Team entry is set at $200, while individual entry costs $50 per player and includes carts and green fees. Mulligans will be available for $5 each, with a maximum of 2 per person.

Organizers say the event is designed to bring together local businesses, residents, and visitors for both recreation and community support, reinforcing the chamber’s role in promoting local engagement.

Those interested in participating can register through the Mitchell Chamber by emailing mitchellchamber@frontier.com or calling 812-849-4441.
