Safety Alert: Major vehicle recall issued for popular sedans, SUVs, and trucks

INDIANA The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has released a comprehensive list of new vehicle recalls affecting a wide range of manufacturers, from luxury automakers Mercedes-Benz and Lexus to everyday commuters and Toyota, Honda, and Chrysler.

The recalls cover a variety of safety concerns, including air bag failures, fire risks, and mechanical malfunctions. Under federal law, all recall repairs must be completed by an authorized dealership at no cost to the consumer.

Major Passenger Vehicle Recalls

Several high-volume models are included in this latest round of alerts. Owners of the following vehicles should take immediate notice:

  • Toyota & Lexus: A significant recall (26V180) affects the 2022-2024 Lexus LX due to front passenger airbags that may not deploy properly. Additionally, the 2023-2025 Toyota Corolla Cross Hybrid (26V203) is being recalled for insufficient pedestrian warning sounds.
  • Chrysler/FCA: The 2022-2026 Chrysler Pacifica and Voyager (26V189) have been flagged for improperly sealed side curtain airbags, which may fail to protect occupants in a crash.
  • Volkswagen: The 2025 Jetta and Taos (26V185) are facing instrument panel failures, which could result in the loss of critical safety information while driving.
  • Nissan: A “Park Outside” warning has been issued for the 2026 Nissan LEAF (26V188) due to high-voltage battery modules that may short-circuit, posing a fire risk.
  • Mercedes-Benz: A wide array of 2026 GLE and GLS models (26V199), including AMG and Maybach variants, are being recalled for potential air bag deployment issues. The 2025 G 580 EV (26V198) was also flagged for loose wheel bolts.

Luxury and Specialized Vehicles

  • Lucid: The new 2025-2026 Lucid Gravity (26V192) has an incorrect weld that may cause seat bracket failure.
  • Aston Martin: Multiple DBX models from 2021-2026 (26V200) are being recalled due to potential rear lower suspension arm failure.
  • Storyteller Overland: The 2024-2026 GXV Hilt (26V183) has entry steps that may dangerously extend while the vehicle is in motion.

Motorcycle and Commercial Recalls

The alert also includes several two-wheeled vehicles and heavy-duty trucks:

  • “Do Not Ride” Warning: Yamaha has issued a critical notice for the 2026 TW200 (26V197) due to total speedometer failure.
  • Honda: The 2025 CB1000SP (26V194) may have fuel hose leaks, creating a fire hazard.
  • Volvo Trucks: The 2025-2026 VNL (26V184, 26V186) is facing multiple issues, including instrument panel display failure and delayed brake release.

Recalls are issued when a vehicle or its equipment does not comply with a Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard or when there is a safety-related defect.

How to check:

  1. Locate your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN), usually found on the driver’s side dashboard or your insurance card.
  2. Visit the NHTSA Recall Look-up Tool.
  3. If your vehicle is listed, call your local dealership immediately to schedule a free repair.

Even if you haven’t received a letter in the mail, you can stay proactive by checking your VIN twice a year. Manufacturers are required to fix these defects regardless of the vehicle’s age or mileage.
