Youth First arms parents with online safety strategies for kids

MITCHELL – On Thursday, April 2, Youth First is hosting a community event to arm parents with online safety strategies and proper social media use for kids. The presentation begins at 6:00 pm in the Mitchell High School cafeteria with refreshments provided.

The Youth First presentation, titled Parenting in a Digital World, focuses on how to keep children safe online and in their use of social media. The presenting speaker is Laura Keys, LCSW, LCPC-S, Vice President of Programs & Services at Youth First. Keys will explore the digital environments young people encounter every day and highlight risks associated with social media use, the platforms and apps most popular with youth, the most concerning digital trends, and practical strategies for keeping kids safe online.

This community event is hosted by Youth First and Mitchell Community Schools and is sponsored by the Lawrence County Local Coordinating Council and Hoosier Uplands. Refreshments will be provided by El Compadre Mexican Restaurant and the Spring Mill State Park Inn.

Parents, caregivers, and community leaders are invited. Specifically, this presentation will engage parents of middle and high school students from Mitchell and Bedford schools.
