Indiana BMV announces branch closures for Good Friday holiday

INDIANA Hoosiers planning a trip to the license branch will need to adjust their schedules this week. The Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles (BMV) has announced that all branch locations will be closed on Friday, April 3, 2026, in observance of Good Friday.

Good Friday is one of several state-recognized holidays in Indiana where government offices, including the BMV, suspend operations.

Following the one-day closure, branches will resume their regularly scheduled business hours on Saturday, April 4.

For many full-service branches, Saturday hours typically run from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., though motorists are encouraged to check their local branch’s specific schedule on the BMV website before traveling, as some smaller locations may remain closed on weekends.

While physical branches will be closed, the BMV offers several ways for residents to complete urgent transactions without a trip to the office. The state’s online portal, myBMV.com, remains available 24/7. Users can renew vehicle registrations, update insurance information, and even renew driver’s licenses (provided their previous renewal was done in person).

There are over 50 self-service BMV Connect kiosks located throughout the state, many of which are accessible 24 hours a day in branch lobbies or participating retail locations. These machines can print registration stickers and renew plates on the spot.

The BMV’s automated contact center phone system can also handle basic registration renewals at 888-692-6841.
