Deadline approaches for Daviess County Tourism Grants

DAVIESS COUNTY — Local nonprofits and community organizations have just two weeks left to apply for a new series of grants designed to elevate Daviess County as a premier regional destination.

The Daviess County Visitors Bureau (DCVB) has set an application deadline of April 1, 2026, for its inaugural grant programs. Launched in February, the initiative seeks to empower local groups to create innovative projects that attract visitors and showcase the county’s unique culture and heritage.

The grants are specifically tailored for 501(c)3 or 501(c)6 nonprofit organizations and community groups. According to DCVB Executive Director Debbie Goodwin, the funding is intended to be versatile, supporting a wide range of efforts including:

  • Event Promotion: Assistance with marketing and advertising for local festivals and attractions.
  • Marketing Campaigns: Strategic initiatives to draw regional travelers to the area.
  • Quality-of-Place Projects: Improvements to the physical appeal of local sites to create a more welcoming environment for tourists.

The goal is to empower local organizations to create compelling experiences that highlight the rich heritage and vibrant culture of Daviess County, said Goodwin. By investing in these initiatives, Daviess County is not only enhancing tourism but also supporting local economic growth.

Evaluation and Timeline

Following the April 1 deadline, applications will enter a review period. Successful applicants will be notified of their awards on or before April 30, 2026. Grantees will be required to sign an agreement outlining specific requirements and expectations to ensure transparency in the use of funds.

The launch of these grants comes at a time when tourism in the Hoosier State is reaching record heights. Governor Mike Braun recently announced that 2024 was a banner year for Indiana tourism, with over 83 million visitors spending nearly $17 billion statewide.

In southern Indiana specifically, tourism has become a vital economic pillar. Recent data shows that for every dollar spent by a visitor in Indiana, approximately 65 cents stays within the local economy, supporting small businesses and funding public services like infrastructure and education.
