Search begins for 2026 Miss Daviess County; Scholarship opportunity announced

DAVIESS COUNTY — Applications are officially open for young women interested in serving as the next Miss Daviess County. The annual queen pageant, a staple of the local summer season, is scheduled for Saturday, July 11, 2026, at the Washington High School Auditorium.

The pageant serves as a platform for local youth to develop public speaking skills, gain confidence, and represent their community on a regional and state level.

Eligibility and Prizes

Organizers are looking for candidates who meet the following requirements:

  • Must be a resident of Daviess County.
  • Must be between the ages of 18 and 21.

The winner of the 2026 crown will receive a $500 scholarship, generously sponsored by Century 21 Classic Realty agent and former Miss Daviess County, Shelley Brinson. Beyond the financial award, the queen will serve as the official ambassador for the county at various community events throughout the year and will compete in the Indiana State Fair Queen Pageant in Indianapolis.

Winning the local title is the first step toward the prestigious Miss Indiana State Fair competition. The Indiana State Fair Queen plays a vital role in promoting agriculture and Indiana’s rural heritage, traveling nearly 6,500 miles across the state during her reign.

The state-level competition typically focuses on three key areas:

  1. Personal Interview: Assessing conversational ability and poise.
  2. Professional Wear: Evaluating posture and professional impression.
  3. Evening Gown: Focusing on stage presence and confidence.

Local Fair Context

The pageant coincides with the broader preparations for the Daviess County 4-H Show, which is slated to run from July 13–24, 2026, at the fairgrounds in Washington. While the 4-H show focuses on livestock and project exhibitions, the Queen Pageant highlights the leadership and ambassadorial spirit of the county’s young women.
