Upon arrival, emergency responders located two heavily damaged vehicles resting on North County Road 250 West. However, initial investigations by deputies revealed that the actual collision occurred in the left lane of Interstate 65.

The force of the impact caused both vehicles to leave the interstate, coming to a final rest on the adjacent county road below.

Due to the severity of the wreckage and the nature of the injuries, two medical helicopters were called to the scene.

Both drivers were stabilized on-site before being transported via helicopter for emergency treatment. As of Sunday morning, officials have not released the names of the drivers or provided an update on their medical conditions.

To allow for a thorough investigation and the safe landing of medical aircraft, authorities implemented several temporary road closures. North County Road 250 West was shut down from Lowell Road to West County Road 500 North. The area remained closed for several hours as crews cleared debris and documented the scene. All affected roads were reopened to traffic late Saturday evening.

The Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Office has not yet confirmed the cause of the crash or if weather played a factor. The investigation remains ongoing.
