Michigan man arrested after vehicle pursuit

MIAMI COUNTY – On Thursday, February 26, 2026, a Michigan man was arrested after leading Indiana State Police Troopers and Miami County Deputies on a pursuit in Miami County.

Just before 2:00 p.m., Miami Central Dispatch advised of a caller reporting a possible unconscious male in the ditch near US 31 and County Road 450 North in Miami County. Trooper Andrew Baldwin and other members of the Indiana State Police Peru District and the Miami County Sheriff’s Office responded to the area. Upon arrival, a 2021 Toyota Tundra driven by Devin R. Crochet, 31, from Muskegon, MI., fled the scene and led officers on a pursuit throughout Miami County.

The Toyota fled from officers for several miles while reaching speeds in excess of 100 miles per hour, almost striking vehicles on US 31. The vehicle ultimately came to a stop on County Road 400 West. Crochet was safely taken into custody without further incident. During the course of the investigation, Trooper Andrew Baldwin gathered information leading him to believe Crochet was under the influence of alcohol. Crochet also had multiple felony warrants out of Louisiana.

As a result of the pursuit and ensuing investigation, Crochet was preliminary charged with resisting law enforcement with a vehicle, OWI endangerment, reckless driving and warrants in Louisiana.
