Make Seymour Shine cleanup week scheduled for April 13–17

SEYMOUR — The city of Seymour will hold its annual Make Seymour Shine cleanup week from April 13 through April 17, offering residents free pickup of extra trash and debris.

Residents are reminded to have all items set out by 7 a.m. on their regular trash pickup day. Pickup is residential only; curbside and alley pickups will not be accepted. Trash, metal, and yard waste must be separated, and any trash placed in a 35-gallon container or smaller will be thrown away.

Landscaping debris, wood, drywall, and remodeling materials must be separated from yard waste. Latex paint must be dried with cat litter, sawdust or oil dry, and oil-based or spray paint will not be accepted. Each household may dispose of up to 4 used vehicle tires; semi-truck and agricultural tires are prohibited.

Household hazardous waste, including pesticides, old fuels, cleaners, and oil-based paint, may be taken to the Seymour Department of Public Works during regular hours at the recycle information booth.

Only one pile, equal to one truckload, is allowed per residence during the week; additional piles are subject to charges. Asbestos items will not be accepted. A $20 fee applies to televisions, computer monitors, and laptops.

No phone call is required for pickup unless a vehicle needs to be removed. Residents needing vehicle pickup must contact the GSG supervisor at 812-524-1100 and provide a title. Questions may also be directed to the Department of Public Works at the same number.
