Oasis, Shakira, and Phil Collins lead diverse 2026 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame nominees

CLEVELAND, OH — The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame has officially pulled back the curtain on its Class of 2026 nominees, unveiling a 17-act shortlist that spans the spectrum of global pop, hardcore hip-hop, heavy metal, and Britpop.

This year’s ballot is notable for its high volume of first-time contenders, including Phil Collins (nominated for his solo career after being previously inducted with Genesis), neo-soul icon Lauryn Hill, and Latin superstar Shakira. Joining them are first-timers Wu-Tang Clan, INXS, Jeff Buckley, Melissa Etheridge, New Edition, P!NK, and Luther Vandross.

A Mix of Fresh Faces and Familiar Contenders

While ten artists are celebrating their first appearance on the ballot, several “fan favorites” have returned for another shot at the title. After high-profile reunions and enduring chart presence, Oasis and The Black Crowes are back in the running. Mariah Carey, Iron Maiden, and Sade also return to the list, alongside Billy Idol and the joint entry for Joy Division/New Order.

“This diverse list of talented nominees recognizes the ever-evolving faces and sounds of Rock & Roll and its continued impact on youth culture,” said John Sykes, Chairman of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Foundation, in a statement.

To be eligible for the Class of 2026, an artist or band must have released their first commercial recording at least 25 years ago (no later than 2001). The selection process now moves into the hands of an international voting body of more than 1,200 artists, historians, and music industry professionals.
