COLUMBUS — Cummins Inc. is launching a significant financial incentive program to encourage owners of certain Ram heavy-duty pickups to complete a vital software recall. The Columbus-based engine manufacturer announced it will pay up to $1,000 to eligible owners who bring their vehicles in for the “Emissions Recall 67A” update.
The recall targets Ram 2500 and 3500 models manufactured between 2013 and 2018 equipped with Cummins diesel engines.
Cummins officials emphasized that the software update is designed specifically to reduce tailpipe emissions to meet federal requirements. Crucially for truck owners, the company states the update will not alter the vehicle’s power, torque, or overall responsiveness.
The procedure is relatively minor:
- Time: Takes less than one hour to complete.
- Cost: Free of charge to the owner.
- Parts: No new hardware or mechanical parts are required; it is strictly a software calibration.
To boost participation, Cummins is offering a tiered incentive structure for owners who visit an authorized Ram dealership to receive the update:
- Standard Reward: After the update, owners will receive a $500 prepaid debit card.
- Early Bird Promotion: The first 750 owners to complete the recall will have their reward doubled to $1,000. This specific promotion is active until March 31, 2026.
- Added Protection: In addition to the cash incentive, owners will receive an extended warranty covering select emissions and aftertreatment components, providing long-term peace of mind regarding vehicle performance.
This incentive reflects Cummins commitment to supporting drivers with updates that keep their trucks running at their best, said Jennifer Rager, Executive Director of the Pickup Business at Cummins.
Owners are encouraged to visit CumminsRecall.com to enter their Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) and verify if their truck is part of the 67A recall. Once verified, owners can schedule an appointment with any authorized Ram dealer to qualify for the prepaid card and warranty extension.
