OAKLAND CITY – A total of 215 students representing 11 area high schools will gather at Oakland City University on Friday, February 27, for the fifth annual OCU Scholastic Contest.
The annual academic competition brings together some of the region’s top high school scholars to test their knowledge across 12 subject areas. Students will compete in disciplines spanning the sciences, mathematics, history, geography, humanities, and fine arts, showcasing academic excellence and intellectual curiosity.

Dr. Sarah Wilson, Director of the Honors Program and Professor of Chemistry at Oakland City University, serves as the contest coordinator. She has guided the university’s high school honors initiative each year and continues to play a central role in expanding academic outreach efforts.
“Events like the OCU Scholastic Contest highlight the exceptional talent found in our region’s high schools,” said Dr. Wilson. “We are proud to provide students an opportunity to challenge themselves academically while experiencing our campus community.”
Faculty, staff, and current students at Oakland City University will administer the 12 subject exams and host an awards ceremony recognizing top performers. The event not only celebrates scholastic achievement but also introduces participants to the academic environment and opportunities available at OCU.
