Purdue Extension to offer virtual Farmers Market Certificate program in March

INDIANA — Market managers and vendors looking to strengthen their operations can enroll in an upcoming Farmers Market Certificate program offered by Purdue University Extension.

The virtual training series will be held on Thursdays from March 12 through April 2 at 6 p.m. Eastern via Zoom. The program consists of four two-hour sessions designed to help participants navigate the complexities of operating and supporting farmers’ markets.

Organizers say the course will cover food safety regulations, legal considerations for markets, strategies to improve market stability, management of food assistance programs, and conflict resolution. The training is geared toward both market managers and vendors seeking a deeper understanding of compliance and best practices.

Registration costs $75 and includes a market manager or market vendor manual, which participants select during registration.

Those in need of accommodations to attend are asked to contact Sarah Hanson at 765-494-8483 or sspeedy@purdue.edu by March 2, 2026. Requests for interpreters or translators should also be made by that date. A parent or guardian must accompany participants under age 18.
