SPRINGVILLE — The Perry Township Trustee and Advisory Board are officially opening the bidding process for cemetery maintenance for the 2026 mowing season. Local contractors and landscaping businesses are invited to submit proposals to care for four historic township cemeteries.
The maintenance of these sites is a statutory responsibility of the Township Trustee, ensuring that “abandoned” or township-owned burial grounds are kept in a respectable condition and free of rank vegetation.
The bid request outlines specific frequencies for each location to ensure proper upkeep throughout the spring and summer months:
- Cobb Cemetery: Three mowings per season.
- Graves Cemetery: Three mowings per season.
- Gray Cemetery: Three mowings per season.
- Baptist Cemetery: Bi-weekly mowing throughout the season
All interested parties must submit their final bids by March 2, 2026, no later than 5:30 PM.
In Indiana, township mowing contracts typically require the contractor to provide their own equipment and insurance. Bidders are encouraged to clarify if their rate includes “trimming” around headstones and fence lines, which is often a required component of keeping these sites in “respectable condition” as mandated by Indiana Code 23-14-69.
If you are interested in placing a bid or require additional information regarding the specific boundaries or terrain of the cemeteries, please contact Carla Bomgardner (formerly Carla Hettle) at perrytrustee1@gmail.com or call 812-583-7372.
The Perry Township Trustee’s office is located at 500 Popcorn Road in Springville. The Advisory Board will review all submitted bids following the March deadline.
