City of Bloomington partners with United Way of South Central Indiana to offer Free Community Tax Service

BLOOMINGTON — The City of Bloomington, in partnership with United Way of South Central Indiana, is offering Free Community Tax Service appointments at Bloomington City Hall during the 2026 tax season. The program provides no-cost, professional tax preparation services to eligible residents across Monroe, Brown, and Owen counties.

The Free Community Tax Service is led by United Way of South Central Indiana and supported by a network of local agencies. As a site partner, the City of Bloomington hosts tax preparation services at City Hall at 501 North Morton Street. Appointments at Bloomington City Hall are available every Wednesday from 5–8 p.m. through April 8, 2026, offering evening access for working individuals and families.

New this year, Indiana Legal Services will be available onsite to provide consultations, including assistance with prior-year tax issues, further strengthening the support available to taxpayers.

“Access to free, reliable tax preparation services is an important financial stability tool for individuals and families,” said Shatoyia Moss, Community and Family Resources Director. “Through strong partnerships, the City is committed to reducing barriers and ensuring residents can keep more of what they earn.”

The Free Community Tax Service is available to individuals and families earning $67,000 or less and is delivered by IRS-certified volunteer tax preparers.
