BEDFORD – The White River Humane Society is offering financial assistance to help Lawrence County residents spay or neuter their pets, thanks to a grant from the Smithville Charitable Foundation. The program provides $50 off per animal, with a limit of two vouchers per household, to help reduce pet overpopulation and support the health and safety of local animals.

To qualify, participants must provide proof of Lawrence County residency, and a veterinary appointment must be scheduled within 30 days prior to picking up the voucher. Humane Society officials note that vouchers cannot be used as deposits and must be applied directly to the procedure cost.
Pet overpopulation continues to strain shelters and rescues across the region, and organizers say spaying and neutering is one of the most effective ways residents can help. By preventing unplanned litters, the program aims to reduce the number of animals entering shelters while promoting longer, healthier lives for pets.
Residents interested in learning more or obtaining a voucher can visit the White River Humane Society during business hours, call 812-279-2457, or email wrhsmgt@gmail.com for additional information.
