BEDFORD— Local authorities and community members are issuing an urgent plea for assistance as a homeowner on State Road 54 West faces a life-threatening fuel shortage.
According to Lawrence County Emergency Management, heavy snow and ice accumulation have rendered the homeowner’s driveway impassable. Limestone Energy, the local propane provider, has reported that its delivery trucks are currently unable to navigate the steep or slick terrain to reach the residence. With the household nearly out of propane, the situation has become critical as freezing temperatures persist.
The community is looking for a volunteer or a local contractor with a plow-equipped vehicle willing to clear the driveway to allow the gas truck access.
While the homeowner is able to offer a limited amount of funds for the service, the request is primarily a call for neighborly assistance to ensure the safety of a resident in distress.
If you have the equipment and are willing to assist, please do not head directly to the location. Instead, coordinate through the following office to ensure the plow and the delivery truck are synchronized by calling 812-277-9680.
As the winter storm continues to impact Lawrence County, residents are encouraged to check on elderly neighbors and those in rural areas who may be struggling with utility access.
