ORLEANS — A cornerstone of the Orleans community is reaffirming its commitment to the town’s most celebrated spring tradition. Members of the Orleans American Legion Warren Brock Post #69 met recently to present a $1,000 contribution to the Orleans Chamber of Commerce, ensuring the success of the upcoming 56th Annual Dogwood Festival.

The donation, presented by Legion Commander Ronnie Taylor and member Will Terry to Chamber Executive Director Robert F. Henderson, helps offset the significant operating expenses of the nine-day event.
The partnership between the Legion and the festival dates back to the early 1970s. For over 50 years, the Legion has been the sole provider of the festival’s carnival, which serves as the organization’s primary “fun-raiser” for the year.
This year, the Legion will once again bring the Funtime Carnival of Harrison, OH, to downtown Orleans. The midway will operate throughout the festival week, offering a full slate of family-friendly rides, games, and concessions in the heart of Congress Square.
“America 250” Kickoff
The 2026 festival, scheduled for April 18–25, carries added national significance. Organizers have announced the general theme as “America 250: 1776–2026,” marking the official kickoff for local celebrations of the United States’ 250th anniversary.
“The Dogwood Festival has always been about community pride,” said Henderson. “Having the longtime support of the American Legion allows us to keep this a top-tier flowering festival while honoring our heritage.”
