Hoosier Hysteria hits Bloomington: Heisman winner Mendoza to host championship signing

BLOOMINGTON Fresh off a historic victory at Hard Rock Stadium, the Indiana University Hoosiers are bringing the celebration back home. Heisman Trophy winner and National Champion quarterback Fernando Mendoza is set to host an exclusive autograph signing this Wednesday at DICK’S Sporting Goods.

For IU fans eager to meet the leader of the championship squad, timing is everything. The event is strictly limited to the first 250 people.

Autograph Session Details

To ensure a spot in line, fans must secure a wristband on the morning of the event.

  • Location: DICK’S Sporting Goods (College Mall), 2850 E. 3rd St., Bloomington.
  • Wristband Distribution: Starts at 9:00 a.m. Wednesday.
  • Distribution Rules: First-come, first-served. Limit of one wristband per person. A wristband is mandatory for entry to the signing.
  • Signing Time: Mendoza will appear from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

The celebration isn’t limited to autographs. The actual College Football Playoff National Championship Trophy—the 24-karat gold-plated trophy presented to the Hoosiers on January 19—will be on a local tour. Fans can view the trophy for free at the following locations:

The Championship Celebration

The festivities culminate this weekend with a massive “Championship Celebration” scheduled for 1:00 p.m. Saturday in Bloomington. Details regarding the parade route and guest speakers are expected to be released shortly as the city prepares for one of the largest gatherings in its sporting history.

For those who can’t make the signing, IU championship commemorative merchandise, including bobbleheads and apparel, is already appearing on shelves across the city.
