BEDFORD — The Fourth Annual Mark Starr Cutter Classic will take place Saturday, Jan. 24, in the Quarry Gymnasium at Bedford Middle School, featuring eighth-grade boys’ and girls’ basketball teams from across the region.
Games are scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. and conclude at approximately 7 p.m. Admission for the day is $10 for adults and $5 for students.

“All proceeds from the tournament will help fund a scholarship given in the memory of Mark Starr, a beloved coach and teacher at Bedford Middle School who passed away in 2021.”
The boys’ tournament will include teams from Bedford Middle School, Mitchell, Springs Valley, and Washington. Girls’ teams participating in the event are Bedford Middle School, Mitchell, Springs Valley, and Edgewood.
In addition to the tournament games, a silent auction will be held inside the gym throughout the day. The auction was introduced last year and was a significant success, with organizers planning to offer an even larger selection of items this year.
Those interested in donating items to the silent auction or making a monetary contribution to the Mark Starr Scholarship may contact Ed Cobb at cobbe@nlcs.k12.in.us.
The Mark Starr Cutter Classic continues to serve as both a competitive middle school basketball event and a community fundraiser honoring the legacy of a longtime Bedford Middle School educator and coach.
