Registration closing soon for 2026 Virtual Master Gardener Basic Training

BEDFORD Registration is closing soon for the 2026 Virtual Master Gardener Basic Training program offered through Purdue Extension, with applications due by Tuesday, January 14.

The statewide training provides participants in Lawrence, Brown, and Monroe counties with foundational education in gardening through live, interactive webinars held via Webex. Training sessions will run Tuesday evenings from February 3 through May 5, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. In addition to the virtual classes, participants will take part in County Connection Hours on Wednesdays from February 3 through May 5, held from 6 to 7 p.m. either in Monroe County or virtually.

Those interested must first apply by contacting Purdue Extension of Lawrence County. Applications can be requested by contacting Kassi Shelton at kas@purdue.edu or by calling 812-275-4623. Once approved, participants will complete registration and submit program fees. Registration opens in December 2025, with a cost of $185 for individuals or $290 for two people sharing a manual.

The Master Gardener program is designed for individuals who want to deepen their knowledge of horticulture while preparing to serve their communities through education and volunteer service. Topics covered include basic gardening principles, plant care, and environmentally responsible practices.
