Hatfield Elementary to launch Robotics Club for second graders this February

MITCHELL – Hatfield Elementary School will launch a new Robotics Club for second-grade students beginning February 5, 2026, offering young learners an early, hands-on introduction to robotics, creativity, and problem-solving. The club is open exclusively to Hatfield second graders and will meet twice a week, providing students with an engaging opportunity to explore how things are built and how technology works.

The Robotics Club will be sponsored by kindergarten teacher Ally Brown and kindergarten aide Kelsy Wilson, who will guide students through age-appropriate robotics activities designed to spark curiosity and imagination. Sessions will run for five weeks, meeting on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. in Miss Brown’s classroom. The first session is scheduled from February 5 through March 12.

Participation is limited to 24 students, and an application process is required. Interested students must complete a short written response explaining their interest in robotics, draw a picture of something they would like to build, and submit a completed application form. Applications are being sent home with second-grade students and must be returned to the school office by Thursday, January 15, 2026.

Families will be notified of acceptance between January 22 and January 30. Parents should note that transportation home from Robotics Club meetings will be the responsibility of families, as buses will not be provided.

Hatfield Elementary’s Robotics Club aims to encourage creativity, teamwork, and early STEM learning while giving students a fun and supportive environment to explore new skills. Families are encouraged to review the flyer sent home for full details and application instructions.
