BEDFORD — Those who have considered entering the political arena at the local level will have a chance to learn the ropes this month. Purdue Extension’s Community Development program, in collaboration with Lawrence County Elections, is hosting a free workshop titled “Elected Leadership: Running for Office” on Saturday, December 13, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Lawrence County Voter Registration Office at 918 16th Street.

The program is designed to provide residents with detailed information about the process, requirements, and specific positions slated for the 2026 ballot.
Purdue Extension is conducting this program in collaboration with the county clerk, local political parties, and current elected officials. The goal is to build a strong community of local political knowledge and participation.
The event is free and open to anyone interested in running for a local office.
