Purdue Extension to host free Food Budgeting & Meal Planning Workshop at Melton Public Library

FRENCH LICK — As grocery prices continue to challenge families across southern Indiana, Purdue Extension–Orange County is offering a free Food Budgeting & Meal Planning workshop to help households stretch their dollars without sacrificing nutrition. The session will take place Monday, Dec. 15, from noon to 1 p.m. at the Melton Public Library.

The workshop is designed to give attendees practical, easy-to-use strategies for planning meals, reducing food waste, and making smarter choices at the store. Topics include creating a grocery game plan, eating better on a budget, food storage and safety tips, and creative ways to reinvent leftovers. Participants will also learn about the Family Dinner Project, an initiative aimed at helping families build stronger connections through shared meals.

Purdue Extension staff say the program is especially valuable during the holiday season, when budgets tighten and schedules get busy. The session is open to the public at no cost, but organizers encourage those interested to RSVP by calling 812-936-2177.
