JACKSON CO.— The Jackson County Chamber is convening a crucial Healthcare Summit next week to address the pressing issues and opportunities surrounding rural healthcare in the community. The event aims to foster a collaborative discussion by bringing together key state policymakers, healthcare executives, and local practitioners.

The goal of the panel is to gather leaders from the healthcare sector, local businesses, and government to engage in a meaningful conversation about the future health and wellness of the region. This comes as many rural areas in Indiana face significant challenges, including physician shortages, limited access to specialty care, and hospital closures.
The high-level panel for the summit will feature several influential voices from across the Indiana healthcare landscape:
- Michell Matern with the Indiana Department of Health, offering insights into state-level initiatives and policies.
- Dr. Eric Fish, Chief Executive Officer of Schneck Medical Center, providing a perspective from a leading local healthcare system.
- Ann Lundy and Erin Daniel with Indiana Health Centers, addressing the role of community health centers in expanding access to care.
The session, which is titled “Health Outcomes and Pressures in Rural Healthcare – and What We Are Doing About It,” is scheduled to run from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. on Friday, December 12th. The summit will be held at The Copper Top on St. Louis Avenue.
Admission for the event is $40 for Jackson County Chamber members and $50 for non-members. Interested participants are encouraged to register and obtain more information online.
