INDIANA — As temperatures drop, Duke Energy Indiana is stepping up its commitment to helping customers in need by dedicating $320,000 in financial assistance for the upcoming winter season through its Share the Light Fund. This fund is supported by contributions from Duke Energy shareholders and voluntary donations from employees and customers.

The company is partnering with the Indiana Community Action Association to ensure the funds reach qualifying households efficiently.
How to Access the Share the Light Fund
The Share the Light Fund provides direct assistance to eligible customers to cover not only energy bills but also security deposits and reconnection or connection charges.
- Eligibility: Assistance is based on a review of the applicant’s income, family size, and the program’s current resource availability.
- Assistance Limit: Qualifying customers can receive up to a $300 credit annually applied directly to their Duke Energy account.
- Application Process: Individuals who believe they may be eligible are urged to contact their local community action agency to begin the application process. A listing of service providers by county is available online.
“Each year, more than 2,600 Indiana households receive assistance with their energy bills through Duke Energy’s Share the Light Fund, so as you would imagine, this support from the company is truly a gift,” said Ed Gerardot, director of the Indiana Community Action Association. “Duke continues to ‘walk the talk’ for its customers in need and is a great community partner.”
A History of Giving
Over the last five years, Duke Energy’s Share the Light Fund has provided more than $4 million in bill assistance, supporting nearly 15,000 Indiana households through difficult times.

“Duke Energy’s Share the Light Fund is available to those who may be struggling to make ends meet,” said Stan Pinegar, president of Duke Energy Indiana. “We work hand in hand with community partners to connect our customers with available assistance, offer programs and tools to help manage their energy use and provide financial support during times of economic hardship.”
Additional Resources for Saving Money
In addition to direct financial aid, Duke Energy offers several year-round programs and tools designed to help customers manage their energy use and save money:
- Usage Alerts: Customers can receive notifications detailing their electricity usage and cost, allowing them to make energy-saving adjustments before the billing period ends.
