Mitchell Chamber encourages local shops to join Annual Christmas Downtown Celebration

MITCHELL — The City of Mitchell and Mitchell Parks and Recreation will host a full slate of Christmas events on Saturday, Dec. 13, culminating in the annual “Christmas Downtown” Parade at approximately 6 p.m.

Registration is now open for parade participants. Those interested may complete the online entry form and review parade rules at https://forms.gle/JJoMpwUMTaYhTDu56. Registration will close Sunday, Dec. 7. Line-up time will be announced closer to the event.

Earlier in the day, the Mitchell Parks Board will again “Bake Spirits Bright” by bringing Santa back for the community’s third annual Cookies With Santa event. The cookie-decorating sessions will be held at Mimi’s, 702 W. Main St., with two time slots offered at 12 p.m. and 2 p.m. The cost is $20 per child and must be paid only after a Parks Board member confirms registration. Families may begin the registration process at https://forms.gle/PBk4hgzZHU1XE1iU8.

Organizers expect space to fill quickly, but note that children will have additional opportunities to see Santa later in the afternoon at Friendship Park as part of the larger Christmas Downtown celebration.

Mitchell’s holiday lineup includes food trucks, a vendor market, storefront window displays, tree lighting, visits with Santa, and the nighttime parade, all taking place throughout Main Street.
